Character Name: Laetans Somnium
Character's Age: 14
Gender: Female
Race/Class: Bat Anthromorph
Character's History: Lae is a strange case to put. She was born to two anthros, and her birth was a normal one. Her parents loved her, and she loved her parents. She had a few friends, and those she did had she loved to pieces. However, when she was quite young, she realized that she was different from everyone else. Everyone around her could transform... yet she could not. For the life of her, she just simply could not get her transformation to work for her. This caused her to be teased by the bullies in her clan, and it impacted her greatly. She was already shy to begin with, and the teasing did little to remedy this. While everyone she knew around her was learning their abilities and perfecting their transformations, she was left alone to wonder why she could not. Why was it only she who had been cursed this fate? Had she done something wrong? Was she being punished? These thoughts and more raced through her mind day after day. She often walked alone to gather her thoughts and think, most often around the forest.
On one of these trips, she noticed that she was being tailed by someone. Frightened, she made a break for it, but a man stepped in front of her from the shadows of the foliage to block her path. He was a human, dressed in a cloak and carrying a staff, and he smiled kindly to her. he told her that he had been watching her for a while now, and that he had noticed she could not transform. Being young at the time, about 8, Lae began to talk with this strange man. He told her that he might be able to help her transform like the rest of her clan. This brought a happy smile to Lae's face, and she eagerly agreed. He pulled something out of his pocket. It was a small vial of deep red liquid. He began walking back towards her village, explaining to her that she was lacking something inside her, and that was why she could not transform. Being young and impressionable, Lae believed him. At the entrance of her village, he smiled kindly and gave her the vial. He told her to drink it, and go show her parents her wonderful transformation. Smiling childishly, she downed the drink and ran towards her house. Before she made it there, she felt a terrible burning in her chest, and she fell to her knees. Concerned neighbors rushed to her side to see what was wrong with her, and someone ran to get her parents. Lae was scared. Was this what it felt like to transform every time? The burning became worse as her mother and father rushed to her side. As her mother held her close, Lae felt her grip on reality begin to weaken, and she felt as if she were going to die. She blurted out that she loved her parents before blackness took her. Of course, it did not end there. She could feel her body begin to change. It wasn't simple, like everyone else's transformations. She heard gasps and cries of terror and did not understand why. Her vision suddenly came back, but it was terrifyingly hazed over with crimson. She felt angry, enraged even, and she didn't know why. Looking around her, she saw the terrified faces of friends and family as they stared upwards at her, as if she had become slightly taller. And then...
She slaughtered them all. All of them. One by one she tore them apart with newly acquired claws. She was no longer in control, yet she could see and hear everything she was doing. She was forced to watch as this newly born monster ripped apart both friend and family alike. Inside she was screaming, but the beast inside was roaring. When every last person was dead, she turned to see the man from before staring at her, that kind smile on his face. He held the empty vial in his hands. She caught a glimpse of herself in the reflection of the pond beside her, and she was terrified of what she had become... She began moving towards the man, her claws reaching to end his life, just like everyone else. It never came however. Her body began to weaken for some reason, and she faltered. Her vision began to blacken, and this time she knew that it was unconsciousness. The entire time, during the entire nightmare, she could only think, "Why..?" Why had this man done this too her? The last thing she saw before blackness took her was that man walking towards her. He gently pat her on the head, stroking her hair gently. The last thing she heard him say was, "As expected of you anthromorphs...you truly do have a beast within, don't you? This will provide great data for my research..."
When she awoke, she was laying right where she had collapsed earlier. She looked around at all the destruction and burst in to tears. She buried everyone before running away, unable to bear the tragic sin that she had committed with her own hands. She has wandered ever since, trying to find a way to repent for her earlier sin by helping people. Yet all the while, she can still feel IT inside of her, waiting to be released.
Character's Personality: Lae is a timid and shy girl. She is terrified to make friends or even sometimes talk to other people for the fear that they will find out her secret. She has good intentions, but she rarely ever acts on them. She's currently stuck. She wishes to repent for the wrong that she has done, yet she is to terrified of hurting anyone else. She stays to herself and, if you're lucky. You might get a timid smile from her.
Character's Appearance:
Lae is a medium sized slender girl with pale skin and piercing eyes. Her facial features are soft and child like, but she looks as if she is trying to be mature. She wears a plain white dress shirt, which is both polite and comfortable, and a black skirt that is long enough. Her boots are black, and reach halfway up her shins. Lae's hair is a faded purple-blue, and reaches to her butt. She wears a cross pendant with her at all times. Her ears are that of a bats, situated on her head, and black bat wings that are slender and small spread from her back. These wings can be used for flight.
Anything special: Lae has regular vision, but her senses of taste, smell, and especially hearing are through the roof. Lae cannot control her transformation. Thanks to the vialed potion she was given as a child, she has been housing an "Inner Beast" ever since. If she becomes to emotional, is wounded badly, or is overwhelmed by the scent of blood, she may revert to that horrible form once more. Her monstrous transformation looks much like a large gargoyle with large fangs and claws, as well as a barbed tail.
Weaknesses/Strengths: Lae is quick and agile, and this could prove fatal to anyone who does not take her seriously. She is not that physically strong, however. She prefers not to fight anyway. Her wings may be used for flight, but she cannot fly for long.
