Character's Name: Ptolemy White
Character's Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race/Class: Dragoon
Character's History/Background: Ptolemy knows nothing about his parents or where he originally came from. Abandoned at about ten months old near to the Dragoon capital of Pharlen, he was lucky enough to be found and taken in by a young dragoon woman. She acted as carer and trainer for him, reluctant to be considered as a mother figure. She wasn’t soft on him but gave him affection and love in turn. It was also her who gave him the name Ptolemy White, his surname influenced by his white hair and pale complexion.
Ptolemy was a quiet and reserved child, preferring to learn from books or to train instead of going out to play with others around his age. Because most of the books that he used to read were old, he gained a strict sense of formality. Also because of his extensive reading, he developed a memory that could absorb information quickly and accurately.
When he was about ten years old, Ptolemy was going through the collection of books at his carer’s home. Attracted to a hefty book on gemstones he opened it and found the inner section of pages cut out and containing a lump of aquamarine that was about the size of his fist. At first, he thought he heard a voice whispering to him, but it soon disappeared and he put it down to his imagination. Curious, he asked his carer what the gem was doing, being kept in a book. She quickly took it off him, asking urgently if he’d mentioned it to anyone else. Ptolemy replied a truthful no to which she sighed. It was then his carer told him that the gem contained one of the dragon spirits that he’d been so interested in, then made him swear not to mention of it’s existence to anyone else.
Even though the aquamarine was hidden away, Ptolemy kept occasionally hearing whispers in his dreams and, by the time he was 12, had found the gem out again. This time however, his carer let him keep the gem as she realised that the spirit inside must have taken a shine to the intelligent boy. Soon, Ptolemy learnt the spirit’s name, Hyorinmaru, and the spirit started to teach the boy. Finally, for his fourteenth birthday (the date chosen was the date that he had been found) the aquamarine was magically fused into Ptolemy’s body in a position like the heart, but on the right side of the body instead of the left, allowing the two to work in complete harmony.
Character's Personality: Ptolemy is very mature and serious for his age, hating being mistaken for a child and also of things he deems childish. He is also highly intelligent in his own right and has a sharp intuition, not to mention a very close bond with Hyorinmaru, his dragon spirit, with whom he has a tendency to have conversations with even if he’s talking with someone else.
Character's Appearance: Because of his stunted growth, Ptolemy stands at only 4ft4”. His hair is pure white and his eyes are a teal colour, his skin is always cool to the touch. He usually wears darker coloured clothing, namely a dark blue, long coat, brown fingerless gloves, black trousers and boots with small dashes of red, which sets his pale skin and hair at an even sharper contrast. He carries a katana at his side and a few knives hidden around his person.
His clothes have strategic slits and holes in. For example, there are two slits down the back of his coat and whatever top he’s wearing that start at the top of his shoulder blades and end at the bottom of his ribcage. These allow him to sprout ice-blue, dragon-like wings, which he can do whether his dragon spirit is activate or not.
When Hyorinmaru is active, Ptolemy can develop, if he so chooses, a form of armour. This consists of pale blue scales covering all of his body bar his face, which act like chain mail. The scales are particularly strong on his torso and are as tough as plate steel. Instead of nails, he has talons and strong, hard, white spines are at intervals down his spine and also three six inch spines are on the outer side of each forearm, which can be used as weapons.

Anything special: The name of Ptolemy’s dragon spirit is Hyorinmaru and this dragon has a particular flair for ice. When activated, Hyorinmaru can channel its power into Ptolemy’s sword, freezing anything the sword pierces completely, and into Ptolemy‘s body, allowing him to create ice weapons or freeze objects that he touches. Also, Hyorinmaru gives Ptolemy the power to freeze things that he isn’t touching as long as the thing either contains water or there is water nearby. This is limited however as using this power weakens and tires him.
Weaknesses: Hot weather doesn’t agree with Ptolemy, causing him to feel lethargic. His height can also be a disadvantage in battles, not to mention he hates being mistaken for a child.
Strengths: He is relatively skilled in unarmed combat but specialises more in swordsmanship and other blades.
