Character's Name: XAVIER FORTIS
Character's Age: 26
Gender: Male
Race/Class: Human/Assassin
Character's History/Background:
Xavier Fortis is the son of the late General Aneos Fortis and the mysteriously missing woman, Lei Hanta. The story of how Aneos and Lei met, fell in love and married is not the subject at hand, so let’s dismiss that. Xavier was destined to be a great knight and join the magnificent army like his father and serve the grand king. He would do just that but with a twist to many achievements. His father believed in discipline and so gave Xavier his first blade at the age of four, while his mother deemed freedom and spiritual happiness the highest of priorities, so let Xavier do what he pleased at times.
Having no sibling, Xavier was given all attention – as in enforcing the laws upon him, never letting him out of sight, making sure he was raised as a proper young man. Raised along other aspiring knights, the boy became friends with those who are now serving the king or resting in peace. And one of those friends is currently the royal majesty of Rahn (hope you don’t mind this, if so, I’ll change it ). Xavier keeps in touch with his comrades whenever in Rahn, seeing as he serves the kingdom.
Ordinary in the sense of wanting to be free, Xavier wanted more than just knighthood even as he excelled in that category. And finding out that his mother was a banished shinobi led him to try and persuade her to teach him the ways of the ninja. Lei rejected the idea, of course. Until one day when Xavier found her going to extreme lengths to save their pet Sytos from the highest peak of their house – with just her hands and legs.
Lei (after being begged so persistently) told him the truth and how she loved what she had done in her days, and how she died a little each day being a simple housewife. Lei was in love with Aenos of course, but the entrapment was killing her. In hopes of bringing her back to life (and getting her to teach him), Xavier made her give into teaching him what she called the art of human movement – Parkour.
And in secrecy, Lei taught her son; finding some happiness in being able to do what she loved and finding someone else who did so too. By day, a knight in training. By night, a pupil of Parkour. It would only be a few months later that the dream came to a crashing end.
Aneos found out and went on a rampage. He found it appalling that his own wife was defying his ways and felt dishonored by Xavier for setting aside being a knight. Xavier was forced to quit his lessons of Parkour and his mother suffered a humiliation that brought her back to her depressed state. It would be that night that his mother would disappear. But not before leaving her son a note. In it, it stated her wishes. She wanted him to be happy, to make his father proud and if he wanted, to continue Parkour. She left him a name of a man who would teach him. Wanting to make all of her wishes come true, Xavier succeeded in being a true knight, joined the army and gained recognition. But left right after his name became known.
Against his father’s wishes, Xavier left and took care under the wing of the man Lei had suggested. Her own brother. Unlike his mother, Meotsu was blunt, bold, and uncaring. But made Xavier into what he is now. It took years to master the art and a lot of changing – for Meotsu was not exactly a positive role model -- but he did gained respect from Meotsu (who had always called him an idiot and impossible to work with). Xavier had become involved in Meotsu’s dealings, serving at times as a mercenary for money.
And only a little after this, the wars began and Xavier was called upon. He left Meotsu and returned home, ready to defend country and peace. There he met Aneos and there they had seething arguments (Aneos saw Xavier as a traitor and a savage; Xavier saw his father as an obstacle). And when Aneos was close to death from battle, he did not want to know about his son. Xavier brushed it off and continued to serve the king. He was sometimes a warrior and fought on the field but he mostly took on the role of royal mercenary ( a role that he liked). There in his battles and jobs, he showed what talent his father was making him hide and found followers who wanted to learn. Spurts here and there occurred, Xavier taking on friends as pupils even for some minutes and caught the eye of several. He was suggested to become a master and teach Parkour. Despite the notion that Shinobi used the same art and that he was considered an assassin, the idea was taken into action – they had to counter the shinobi with something.
After peace was finally instilled, Parkour was accepted into the teachings. And though Xavier was offered to redeem his knighthood, he declined saying that he would rather serve the kingdom as he had done in the wars; as a mercenary. Of course, he did not tell King Armstrong just like that; the circle of royal assassins are a group that the king’s own cabinet of advisors keep hidden from him. Xavier simply said that he would like to be a free lance knight. And his wish was honored.
And so, every now and then you’ll see Xavier snapping at a boy for not knowing how to do Reverse but when he’s not in view, those who don’t know his real profession (because he hides it saying he’s been out on travels, taking out little fights) just think he’s traveling being a horrible knight. Which is slightly true.
Character's Personality: Despite his rugged looks, Xavier is calm, thoughtful, loyal to his friends, comical, witty, and honest. But he’s also blunt, slightly apathetic at times, merciless to those he dislikes, sarcastic and cynical.
Character's Appearance: He stands formidably at six feet exact. Striking blue eyes on a chiseled face that's covered by draped dark hair that skims his broad shoulders. When he's not caring about how he looks, Xavier bears a five o'clock shave with a small goatee and untamed hair. When he does come back from his...journies, Xavier cleans up nice. He wears metal vesting and dark, thick leather straps around his arms, Dahaka and Sandwraith at their stations. But he plays down the mercenary attire and goes for more casual things.
Anything special: Different from standard weapons, Xavier’s swords are both inwardly curved and appear to be used to kill rather than defend. The Dahaka is simply long and curved, thin at the end and broad to the top. The other, Sandwraith, looks like a torturing blade, shorter than the former but much more morbid. Its blade is jagged and keen, meant for…several purposes.
Weaknesses/Strengths: Brute strength favors Xavier whilst parkour and sword fighting are his forte. He's cunning and not afraid to be malicious. Intelligent but not booksmart (at least doesn't show it). But he's not unbreakable. Xavier bears a scar that runs down from the middle of his shoulders all the way down his spine. It comes from a horrible fight that almost cost him his life. It's hindered Xavier's spirit to do spontaneous actions and has made him reluctant to try new things. It causes him some pain at times and when it's hurting, he's damn vulnerable. And if you can't hurt him physically, he's easily angered and once that anger blinds him, he's easy to control...if you have the right incentive.

** Xavier is more Free Running than Parkour but Parkour serves a better purpose for the history and charac (which is almost the same thing but there are vital differences). What is Parkour? Check it out here and here.
