Deep in the forest of Undar, a single solitary figure lay amidst tall grass, the only parts of him visible two gray-furred ears, each twitching on occaision, either to take in the surrounding sounds or discourage a pesky bug from landing on him. The male yawned, sharp canine fangs showing themselves as he did so. This figure was none other than Lupin Silverstreak, a carefree anthromorph currently enrolled in the Ashokan University. However, the university had called for an early summer for the students, letting them out of classes at an unusually different time during the year. Lupin was on his way back home, taking a shortcut he knew about through these woods. For now, he was in no hurry, enjoying the early summer as much as he could.
"Sheesh, well at least they didn't give me any homework this time..."
He yawned again and sat up, his exposed furry abs flexing as he did so. He was wearing his usual getup while in his natural were form, a jacket and blue jeans, his silver-furred tail poking out through a rip in the jeans. Today, he wasnt wearing his usual striped bandana, although the trusty garment was tucked safely away in the bag he was carrying with him, along with the steel rod his father had given him.
"Guess I should find some place to get a drink..."

Beside a small pond not far from Lupin's location, there was a small figure that seemed restless. She sat on the bank of the pond, her keen bat-like ears twitching at the slightest sounds. Her wings, small, leathery, and bat-esque in features, were pulled in tightly to her body so they would not get in the way. Her knees were drawn up to her chest as she stared dismally in to the water before her.
Every day was like this. She spent her days in solitude, hiding from the world. It was better that way, really. No one would want her anyway, not if they knew what or who she was. Someone would have to be downright crazy to want to befriend her. In fact... she hadn't had a single friend since the day her village was killed. She sighed slightly and looked at her reflection in the water. She could still see it...she could see the fangs, the claws, the wings, the.... the blood. It was fresh in her mind as if she had just committed the crime...she had to find a way to repent.
Somehow...
((Sorry it's so short...))

Within moments of his statement, the wolf anthro had risen from his comfy grass bed and had gathered up his things. Sniffing the air, he searched for the familiar smell of a river or stream of some kind. Believe it or not, when one had as keen of a nose as Lupin did, everything had a scent. He gave a wolfish grin when he realized one was not far from his location. Making his way there at a carefree pace, he seemed not to notice at first that there was another like himself at his very destination.
It did not take him long to reach the pond. When he did, he knelt and took off the sack from his back, taking out a container which he had been using to carry water. After lapping up enough of the pond water (which was quite fresh and clean) to quench his thirst, he began to fill the container. It was at this time that he picked up the scent of the other, the wind having shifted. Looking up, he gave another canine grin, waving with a furry hand.
"Hey there, you from the acadamy too? Pretty nice how they let us out early eh??"

Lae heard, smelled, and saw the wolf long before he had detected her. As he was filling up his container with water, she quickly got to her feet, aiming to leave quickly before he caught sight or smell of her. This was not to be it would seem and he waved to her, talking kindly to her.
"..."
She backed away slightly, hands placed shyly behind her back. She truly did not have any idea what to say to this man with the snout. He had suddenly come from nowhere and... now he was speaking of an academy? She knew nothing about this academy that he spoke of, and it showed clearly on her terrified face. Even the slightest contact socially with another was enough to frighten her. She was still backing away, her back hitting a tree so that she could back up no longer. She was silent, staring at him with fear in her eyes, trying her best to think of what to say.
"A-Academy..? I... I d-don't know of... of any ac-cademy..."
She stuttered, barely getting the words out. One hand instinctively reached to her neck, her hand clutching her cross pendant tightly. She did this whenever she was scared or nervous.

Lupin's canine smile slowly dissapeared as he saw and -smelled- the girl's fear. What was she so afraid of? Him? Lupin could not see how an anthromorph could be afraid of another anthromorph, especially if they had only just met and he was showing no hostile intentions. Then again, Lupin never did think too deeply into matters such as this.
When she finally spoke in her nervous tone, he realized suddenly that she was not from the Academy. If that was the case, did she live out here? Lupin knew that not all anthromorphs had gone to live in Amon Zoru, his mother and himself an example of this. Or perhaps she was traveller, much like him. Well there was only one way to find out, but first he had to see what he could do about easing this girl's fears. Suddenly, he began to change. His muzzle dissapeared, leaving a smooth mouth, a canine grin still fairly visible on humanoid lips. All his fur dissapeared, the only trace of it upon the top of his head. His bone structure changed slightly, becoming less wolfish and more human. Within moments, he had shifted into his human form, hoping to seem less intimidating to her. He smiled and spoke, rising up and tucking the water bottle away in his bag, turning to look at her with a friendly expression as he finished.
"Well now, that's interesting. Ive never heard of anyone who doesn't know about the "famous" Ashokan University. No need to worry though, there's always a first time. Name's Lupin, What's yours?"

Lae watched him nervously as he moved about, looking on in confusion at her terror. It was always like this, and she really wished it wasn't. She was practically scared to death of anyone and everyone, not because of them... but because of her. She wasn't scared of others... she was terrified of herself. That never really got across to others, and they simply thought she was afraid of everything. After all....who can escape themselves?
He began to change back, his fur receding, his snout shortening to a regular human-esque mouth, but his wolfish smile still remained. At the mention of his shock that she did not know of the academy, she blushed slightly. It was true; she did not know much. She lived alone in the forest, avoiding any human contact whatsoever, or contact with anything ELSE for that matter. Of course she wouldn't know about the Academy... a spark of interest was alight in her eyes for but a moment before it was swallowed up by the terror again. He told her his name and, having been brought up to be polite, she was inclined to do the same.
"I-I'm... I'm Laetans... L-Laetans Somnium..."
She said in a shy voice barely above a whisper. It was almost as if she was not used to speaking to others. In fact, she wasn't. She hadn't spoken to another being in close to a year now.
