Night. It was evident everywhere in her features. Perhaps it was the ghostly glow of her skin that appeared identical to that of the moon. Perhaps it was the deepness of her eyes, forever pulling at those around her. It could even be the way she walked so fluidly, her movements like a spreading shadow. One thing was for sure...Sarai was not an ordinary woman. The griffon that walked beside her, his talons dripping with black poison, was enough proof of that.
They were silent silhouettes, their path in the sand the only evidence of their ever being there. Kahbel, the massive creature that Sarai walked with, let the tips of his wings drag along the shore, his golden eyes looking out like dying suns. The pair were unique and something in Sarai's face was very entrancing.
No one would see the body that lay on the grainy surface, blood spilling out around him. His black hair was matted with sweat, his face shocked and pained. On his chest was a singe, red rose. And as his killers left him there, a small smile was painted on her lips. Pale pastel hues made her hair glitter, the black ribbons of her shirt rippling in the wind. Though she was beautiful to look at, death was all around her.
It had been only hours before that she had first told her love of the news. Seraphiel would have a son...the idea was unbelievable. So, his legacy would continue after all. Sarai expected no less from the man she was so helplessly devoted to. He was her purpose for living. He was everything.
In a graceful motion, she swung her leg over the broad back of her griffon. In an instant they had taken off into a steady run, leaving behind the world in a swirl of dark feathers. The creature took long strides through the shallow ocean waters, the mist cool and fresh on the rider's body. The pair was perfectly in tune with one another, two souls connected. As the world slept, they let their destinies lead them. Sarai had no problem with that...
So sleep tight... for when you shut your eyes, I will be watching you. I am your stalker. I am your predator. Sleep tight my world...my Vaenon.
